Demo 2.0

A week later than I had wanted to finish it, the second demo is finally ready! I had to deal with a lot of conceptual/mechanical issues to get this demo ready, largely to do with the way I want my characters to function in battle. There was a lot of back-and-forth going on in my head, and I think I ultimately opted for something simpler and more familiar. But there's still time for me to change my mind.

Download Note: This demo's filesize is a whole lot smaller than the last one, because I'm taking advantage of the RTP (Run Time Package). You can download it here. You only need to do this once, and then you should be able to play all my future demos as well as any other RPG Maker VX Ace-created games.

2/28/14: Demo 2.0 (12MB) [edit: new demo available, check sidebar for info]

Changes:
the prologue runs a little smoother
I (hopefully) improved the narrative flow of the opening Grassland events, required in part by some conceptual modifications I've had to make

Additions: lots of stuff!
name selection
battle functionality and first set of troops (ignoring the soldier from the first demo)
access to the world map
first "dungeon" (if you can call it that) and boss battle
plus another (very exciting!) dramatic scene

Comments: A lot of this stuff is still in early stages, and may change considerably before the final version is released. In particular, the world map (the little bit of it you can explore at this point) is a rough draft, and character skills and abilities are in a primitive stage. As always, comments, suggestions, and bug reports are appreciated - especially regarding combat balance and difficulty this time around.

Demo 1.0

This is a very basic progress report after the first week of development. I've been working nonstop all week as I'm giddy with excitement about the opportunity to finally create my own RPG!

2/10/14: Demo 1.0 (191MB)  [edit: new demo available, check sidebar for info]

Please report any and all bugs that you find. Comments and suggestions are also welcome.
